Trumbull Serial Car Burglar Arrested: PD

The suspect broke into at least four vehicles at several different fitness clubs, according to police.

TRUMBULL, CT — A Bridgeport man was charged with breaking into several vehicles at various fitness clubs in Trumbull, according to police.

Vehicles were burglarized in early May at Planet Fitness and Insports. Later in the month vehicles were burglarized at the YMCA and Fitness Edge. The contents of a wallet were taken from the YMCA burglary and a Macbook Pro was taken during the Edge burglary.

In several instances a Honda Civic with tinted windows and a distinct bicycle roof rack was seen on surveillance video, police said. The Macbook Pro GPS showed it in the Laurel Court area of Bridgeport.

Police began developing a suspect after reviewing pawn shop records and obtained search warrants.

They found the suspect vehicle in the Laurel Court area, but it had a different license plate, no tints and no roof rack. The tire rims were also changed.

The license plate, roof rack and tire rims were located on a nearby vehicle, police said. A firearm was found during the search, according to police.

Isaias Rivera, 28, was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, sixth-degree larceny, carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, third-degree larceny, stealing a firearm and criminal possession of a firearm.
