Trumbull Settles Lawsuit in Gym Class Volleyball Hit

A former Trumbull High student claimed there was a pattern of students suffering head injuries during school-run activities.

The Trumbull Board of Education has agreed to settle a lawsuit by former Trumbull High School student Natalie Intemann after she was hit in the face with a volleyball during physical education class.

The settlement comes on the heels of another lawsuit where another former Trumbull High School student said she was struck in the head by a tennis ball, according to the Connecituct Post. That case ended with a $900,000 award from a jury, but the town is appealing the case

Intemann’s lawsuit alleges a pattern of students suffering head injuries during school activities. She alleges that half of the physical education class fired volleyballs at the other half of the class. She sustained a concussion and claims it impaired her future earning capability.
