Trumbull Students Learn About Veterans Day With Help From Frontier

Frontier Communications today hosted a Veterans Day assembly at Frenchtown Elementary School as part of their partnership with The History Channel and its “Take a Veteran to School” Program.

“Take a Veteran to School” is a nationwide initiative from The History Channel designed to educate students on the history of our country’s military and the importance of Veterans Day.

Over the past month, students in grades 3-5 have been learning about the different branches of the United States Military, as well as the history behind why we celebrate Veterans Day. The History Channel provided teachers with grade-specific lesson plans and study guides. The program culminated in an assembly this morning with local Veterans sharing stories of service with the students.

As a proud supporter of the troops, Frontier volunteered to partner with The History Channel and organized school assemblies at Frenchtown Elementary and Duggan Elementary in Waterbury.

“Frontier takes great pride in being a company that not only supports the troops, but provides real-world careers for service members once they return from duty,” said Paul Quick, SVP and General Manager for Frontier’s Connecticut Operations. “Nationwide, 13 percent of our company is made up of Veterans; I’m proud to say that 255 of those employees are located right here in Connecticut.”

In addition to Mr. Quick, Mark Brown and Paul Salisbury, two Frontier employees who served in the military, as well as Frontier’s Kira Howell addressed the Frenchtown students this morning. State Senator Marilyn Moore also attended and spoke to the children.
