Trumbull Students to Participate in Invention Conventions
Trumbull students have done very well in the past at the state level of the convention.

Trumbull 5th-graders will be participating in the CT Invention Convention at UConn this spring.
More than 540 students will participate in local conventions across the district in all six elementary schools and 10 percent of the students will go to the state competition at UConn’s Gampel Pavillion in Storrs on May 2.
Last year 54 Trumbull young inventors competed with about 750 other state students, said Floria Mallozzi, Trumbull program leader for K-5 science. More than half were included in the top three percent who received CIC State Recognition Awards, four received corporate sponsor awards and two students may be going forward with possible patents.

More from Trumbull Public Schools:
The CT Invention Convention began in 1983 and has continued to grow ever since. Their mission is to provide children of CT with opportunities to develop critical-thinking and problem solving skills through invention and innovation - all necessary pieces to STEM-based learning.

CIC is able to provide these exciting experiences through a partnership with the University of CT’s Engineering Department and with several corporate sponsorships. Students utilize their problem solving skills to create their own inventions or to improve upon something that already exists.
They will have the opportunity to present their inventions to their teachers, classmates, and to the judges. Our program has been successful because of the commitment of the grade 5 teachers and for the wonderful group of volunteers who have supported us and assisted with judging.
All Trumbull events will take place in the morning from approximately 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. (judging time) – afternoon events are for parent viewing.
