Trumbull Town Treasurer Refuses Pay Raise

Anthony Musto will instead donate his raise back to the community.

TRUMBULL, CT — Town Treasurer Anthony Musto has vowed to donate his five percent raise to Trumbull Social Services.

Our whole town can be proud that we have an elected official who keeps his campaign promises, even when it personally costs him money," said Democratic Town Committee Chairman Tom Kelly.

The raise came through a town ordinance that gave five percent pay raises to elected officials and political appointees.

Kelly called on First Selectman Tim Herbst and the Town Council to repeal the salary increase ordinance and reverse raises.

The people of Trumbull should be aware that another round of raises on top of the ones in 2016 will soon be given," Kelly said, adding that Democrats on the Town Council and Board of Finance will oppose raises in the next budget session.

Instead Kelly said that Democrats will advocate to limit raises to the amount of increase in Social Security payments, which is set to be less than one percent next year.
