Trumbull Veterans Place 750 Flags In Honor Of Memorial Day

This week, veterans placed over 750 flags by the graves of fallen service members at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull.

TRUMBULL, CT — On Wednesday, veterans from VFW Post 10059 and American Legion Post 141 placed more than 750 flags by the graves of fallen service members at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull.

According to a news release provided by Trumbull VFW Post 10059, members of the post have honored this Memorial Day tradition for more than 20 years in recognition of the ultimate sacrifice these individuals made.

Earlier this month, the Trumbull VFW broke ground on a new multipurpose building that will serve as the home base for the Trumbull chapter of the American Legion and the VFW chapter serving Trumbull, Shelton, Monroe, Easton and Redding.

This state-of-the-art facility also will support first responders and be available to rent for meetings and special occasions, according to the release.

There will be multiple ways for donors to pay tribute to those who have served our country. The Trumbull VFW will soon be offering sponsorship naming opportunities within the building as well as plaques recognizing the service of veterans, current military members, and past and present first responders, the release reads.

The plaques will be featured on a Wall of Honor inside the entrance and are available for $125 each. Proceeds will support the ongoing operations of the new facility, according to the release.
