Trump Calls Blumenthal A 'Loser' After Criticism

Another spat between President Donald Trump and U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal.

HARTFORD, CT — Once again President Donald Trump turned his Twitter fury to U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal after Blumenthal criticized the plan for an estimated $92 million military parade and the cancellation of former CIA Director John Brennan's security clearance.

"Real patriotism should mean $92 million to honor military service & benefit veterans, not glorify politicians," Blumenthal tweeted. "Improve vets health care, more jobs & skills, end vet homelessness & suicides—still killing at least 20 heroes every day."

He then went on CNN to say that taking away Brennan's security clearance was illegal and an abuse of power.

"How can “Senator” Richard Blumenthal, who went around for twenty years as a Connecticut politician bragging that he was a great Marine war hero in Vietnam (then got caught and sobbingly admitted he was neither a Marine nor ever in Vietnam), pass judgement on anyone? Loser!" Trump tweeted.

It isn't the first time the two have gotten into a spat on social media.

In 2017 Trump sent out several tweets after Blumenthal called for a special prosecutor to be appointed.

"Watching Senator Richard Blumenthal speak of Comey is a joke," Trump tweeted. "Richie" devised one of the greatest military frauds in U.S. history. For years, as a pol in Connecticut, Blumenthal would talk of his great bravery and conquests in Vietnam - except he was never there. When caught, he cried like a baby and begged for forgiveness...and now he is judge & jury. He should be the one who is investigated for his acts."
