Trump's Summit Performance 'Treasonous': CT Politicians
Several prominent Connecticut politicians called President Donald Trump's remarks at a summit with Russia treasonous.

Several Connecticut politicians are railing against President Donald Trump after he called into question the American intelligence community's assessment that Russia wasn't behind hacking during the 2016 presidential election.
Trump said at a press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin that he didn't see any reason why Russia would be behind hacking. The statement comes after 12 Russian intelligence officers were indicted for cyber attacks during the election, according to the New York Times.
Trump's remarks came under bipartisan criticism and were especially strong-worded from Democrats.

U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro called Trump's performance a new foreign policy low.
"While I welcome bipartisan condemnation for Trump’s shameful display, empty rhetoric is worthless without action to hold the President accountable and to prevent future assaults on our democracy," she said. "House Republicans are complicit in this treasonous moment in our history.”

Gov. Dannel Malloy called Trump's remarks "Shameful, treasonous and terrifying."
"All words summarizing the actions and remarks today by President Trump," he said. "This president is either in way over his head or does not have our nation’s best interests at heart. Regardless of the reason for this epic failure, neither scenario is acceptable. Serious harm was done by this sham of a summit and our nation is no safer for it.”
Sen. Chris Murphy tweeted, "This entire trip has just been one giant middle finger from President Trump to his own country. Just jaw dropping."
Sen. Richard Blumenthal tweeted, "What does Putin have on Trump that we should know — strings on the Trump puppet, dancing to Putin’s tune."
Several Republicans at the national level joined in the criticism.
"There is no question that Russia interfered in our election and continues attempts to undermine democracy here and around the world," House Speaker Paul Ryan said in a statement. "That is not just the finding of the American intelligence community but also the House Committee on Intelligence. The president must appreciate that Russia is not our ally."
Sen. John McCain called the summit with Putin a "tragic mistake."
“Today’s press conference in Helsinki was one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory," he said. "The damage inflicted by President Trump’s naiveté, egotism, false equivalence, and sympathy for autocrats is difficult to calculate."
