Where Everybody Knows Your Name

Clients of Kenny Z's salon in Trumbull get a lot more than a great haircut

If you’re like most people, you’ve gone to many different places to get your hair cut.  I’m not just talking about the ladies, guys I mean you too.  Hair salons in Fairfield County can run the gamut from a $10 barbershop haircut to paying well over $80 for a top stylist just for a trim.

After trying everything from SuperCuts to top chic salons, I was introduced to Kenny Z’s salon by a friend.  I first started going to Kenny Z’s when they were in their old location on Main Street in Bridgeport. An immaculate, yet unassuming salon, I met people in the waiting area that came from throughout Fairfield County because, as many said, “it’s a terrific haircut at a reasonable price.”

In January of 2010, a fire in their Bridgeport building forced them out of their old home and into a new one, sharing space with well-known Trumbull salon at the base of Daniel’s Farm Road in Trumbull.  Word soon spread and now Kenny Z’s is one of Trumbull’s best-loved salons.

Owner Kenneth Zerella opened his first salon more than 36 years ago, after learning his craft at Paul Mitchell in New York, Vidal Sassoon in London, and John Deloria in Boston. Many of his dedicated staff members have worked with him for more than 20 years.

Kenny and his staff of stylists and cosmetologists keep current on the latest trends, and get to know their clients personally. Sessions with my stylist Joanne are not only a great haircut, we also catch up on each other’s lives, share anecdotes and advice. That’s the way Kenny Z’s treats all their clients – like people, not just heads of hair.
