150-Plus Cell Phone Tickets Issued In Vernon During April Campaign

VERNON, CT — An intensive distracted driving enforcement campaign in Vernon during the month of April resulted in more than 150 tickets for motorists using their cell phones, police said.

This campaign was funded through grant money received from the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

During the month, a total of 19 proactive shifts were conducted, each consisting of two officers. By the end of April, officers had stopped a total of 171 motorists, who were utilizing their cell phones while driving.

A total of 152 cell phone tickets were issued, in addition to several other motor vehicle violations, police said.
