2 Popular And Decorated Cops Retire In Vernon

VERNON, CT — Two decorated and popular police officers retired in Vernon last week.

A ceremony Friday honored Kerry Reynolds and Danny Macaulay for their service.

Reynolds was hired at the VPD on Feb. 25. She served as a sergeant, was a member of the honor guard, was a field training officer and led the Vernon Police Explorer post. She also helped plan and coordinate the department's participation with the Connecticut Special Olympics and the VPD Secret Santa.

She earned many awards and commendations including:

• Officer of the year 2017
• 3 Lifesaving awards
• 1 Distinguished Service
• 2 Distinguished Service Unit Citations 2 Meritorious Service
• 1 Meritorious Service Unit Citations Numerous letters of commendations

Macaulay was hired on Sept. 30, 2002. He has held many special assignments in his career. Macaulay was a member of the special enforcement unit and a police dog handler. He was assigned to the East Central Narcotics Task Force and a field training officer.

Macaulay earned the following commendations:

• Officer of the year, 2014
• 4 Life Saving awards
• 2 Distinguished Service
• 2 Distinguished Service Unit Citations 1 Meritorious Service
• Numerous letters of commendations

Reynolds will continue her service with the Connecticut Capitol Police force and Macaulay is headed to the department in Granby.
