3 Charged in Vernon Home Invasion, Hammer Attack

VERNON, CT — Three people were held overnight Sunday into Monday on collective bonds totaling $2 million after a violent home invasion in Vernon, police said.

The incident took place at 1:04 a.m. Sunday at 208 Terrace Drive, according to an arrest report.

Gilberto Corfdero, 23, of Vernon, is accused of breaking into the home with a hammer and then teaming up with 23-year-old Terrell Burgess, of Hartford; and 23-year-old Rosa Nester, of Vernon, to break the arm of an occupant with the hammer and assault several others, according to an arrest report.

The trio fled the home before police could arrive, but were tracked down a short time later, according to an arrest report.

Nester and Burgess were charged with third-degree assault, home invasion and disorderly conduct. They were held on $500,000 bonds each for a Monday court appearance, police said.

Cordero was held on a $1 million bond while awaiting a Monday court appearance, according to an arrest report. Police said he was charged with first- and second-degree assault, home invasion, disorderly conduct and second-degree criminal mischief.

He was found with 16 grams of marijuana on his and was also charged with possession, a report indicates.
