4 Route 83 Projects Noticeably Taking Shape In Vernon
Construction is progressing — finally — on several projects in Vernon.

VERNON, CT — Construction on four projects over a roughly 1 mile stretch of Route 83 in Vernon is progressing, many months after three of them were first conceptualized.
A sign went up over the new Square Peg Pizzeria Location at 226 Talcottville Road over the weekend. The Square Peg owners, who operate multiple restaurants in the state, first announced they were taking over the former Mark's Barbecue property in April 2021.
The Vernon location will feature an outdoor patio and but a pickup window. Customers who call in orders will be able to drive to the right side of the restaurant to pick up their food, according to the plans.

In late September, Construction began to transform a long-vacant parcel next to a massive apartment complex into a daycare center.
The 1.57-acre parcel sits at 273 Talcottville Road.
Matt Halrpin and Kerry Wood of New England Retail Properties, the brokers in the deal, said the buyer of the property, Chicago-based InSite Real Estate Group, acquired it from the holding company 273 Talcottville Road LLC, which developed the adjacent Trail Run Apartment complex.
Town officials said it will be a KinderCare outlet.
No formal opening date has been announced.

A storage facility is gradually popping up along the 100 block of Talcottville Road. The site was approved for the project close to five years ago, when a Wendy's was first proposed for the area.
Improvements along the Hockanum River have also been proposed for the plaza.
Dime Bank also opened at the plaza recently.

A Valvoline car care center is sprouting up at 317 Talcottville Road on a longtime vacant parcel next to a car wash, which Valvoline purchased several months ago from Mr. Sparkle.
The concept was proposed in 2020 and permits following the start of renovations to the car wash in August.
No opening date has been announced.
