7 Pounds of Pot, Drug-Laced Candy Nabbed In Vernon Hotel Raid

Police seized a table full of pot and drug-laced candy bars after a raid at a Vernon hotel on New Year's weekend.

VERNON, CT — Police seized a table full of pot and a bowlful of drug-laced candy bars, among other illegal items, after a raid at a Vernon hotel on New Year's weekend.

The Sunday raid involved a search warrant obtained by the East Central Narcotics Task Force and Vernon police. The cops received a tip that a man in Room 22 at the Days Inn, 422 Hartford Turnpike, had a large stash of marijuana, according to a report.

Police found more than 7 pounds of marijuana, dozens of vape cartridges containing THC, "multiple edibles containing THC," a large amount of marijuana oils and confiscated them, according to a report. A car and an undisclosed amount of cash were also seized, police said.

The suspect, 19-year-old Ryan Main, was charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession with intent to sell
  • The sale of more than 1 kilo of cannabis
  • Operating a drug factory
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Main was also charged with three school-related drug charges for being within
1,500 feet of the YMCA on Hartford Turnpike in Vernon, which operates a daycare program at Center 375.

Main’s bond was set at $250,000, which was cut down to $100,000 after his arraignment, records show. He failed to post that bond and he was still in custody Wednesday while awaiting an Jan. 8 court appearance, records show.

Police on Wednesday released images of the pot stash and other confiscated materials, along with a mug shot of Main.
