7-Year-Old Wanders into Vernon Business Alone, Mom Charged
A mom was charged with risk of injury to a child on Friday, Vernon police said.

VERNON, CT — A 38-year-old mother was charged with risk of injury to a child after a 7-year-old wandered into a West Main Street business alone on Friday, police said.
The child walked into the business office at 11:08 a.m.
Police arrived and the child told the officer he was 7 and lived on West Main Street but was unsure of the number. He then guided the officer 1,235 feet to the home, and the officer found his mother, Krista Owen, asleep in the living room, according to an arrest report.

She told police she had fallen asleep at about 8:30 that morning, according to an arrest report.
