9 Hurt As Vernon School Bus On Field Trip Crashes In Manchester
A school bus from Vernon crashed in Manchester Wednesday morning.

MANCHESTER, CT — A bus carrying fourth-grade students from Vernon's Maple Street School was involved in a crash on Interstate 84 in Manchester Wednesday morning.
State Department of Transportation officials said the incident took place at 9:15 a.m. near the interchange with Exits 60-63.
The bus was full and traveling west on a field trip to the New England Air Museum, school system officials said.

Nine people — eight children and one adult — were taken to a hospital in Hartford for precautionary reasons with what school officials described as minor injuries.

Dear Vernon Families,
This morning, a Maple Street School bus was in an accident on the highway. It was a 4th grade field trip to Hartford. Eight students were transported to the hospital in Hartford for minor injuries. The remaining students are coming back to MSS and will be checked for any medical and emotional concerns. All affected families have been notified. The safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority. Please keep these students and their families in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you for your continued support of our Vernon students.
