Accused Mailbox Pirate Facing Charges In Vernon After Trying to Cash Stolen Checks: Warrant
An accused check thief is due in Rockville Superior Court later this month, Vernon police said.

VERNON, CT — A Hartford man tried to cash checks stolen out of a mailbox at a bank branch in Vernon and is facing criminal charges as a result, a warrant indicates.
At 6:30 a.m. Friday, Vernon police were notified by Manchester police that 34-year-old Hartford resident Deshawn Mobley had been taken into custody after a warrant was executed at his Franklin Avenue residence, according to an arrest report.
The warrant had been issued by Rockville Superior Court in connection with a pair of checks he is accused of attempting to cash at the American Eagle Federal Credit Union in Vernon.

One check was for $962.51 and the other was for $953.23, police said.
Police said they were taken from a mailbox.

Mobley is facing charges that include fourth-degree larceny (with a related conspiracy charge), second-degree forgery (with a related conspiracy charge) and criminal attempt at fifth-degree larceny. He was released on a $30,000 bond and is scheduled for a March 11 court appearance, records show.
