VERNON, CT — A home in Vernon is being rebuilt about 17 months after a late-night fire left the property in ruins.
The house is located on Liberty Street. Construction material is clearly at the location.
The exact cause of the blaze is officially undetermined, but investigators suspect the Oct. 20, 2024 fire began outside the home, Vernon Fire Marshal Dan Wasilewski said.
That night, at about 11, firefighters were alerted to a situation by several 911 calls. Firefighters immediately encountered intense flames when they arrived at the scene and a second alarm was struck as flames began shooting through the roof of the home, officials said.
Firefighters fought the blaze from the ground and a tower truck from the front and back yards.
After the fire was brought under control, crews remained at the scene for several hours dousing hot spots, officials said.
No injuries were reported, but two people were displaced. Wasilewski said the house was a total loss.
One family member said, "Everything is destroyed."
