STAFFORD, CT — Stafford residents will see road work begin on Hampden Road next week, with milling scheduled to start May 13 and continue through the week, according to the Town of Stafford.
Paving operations are scheduled to begin the following week, starting May 19.
Because parts of Hampden Road are narrow, sections of the road will be closed to through traffic during construction operations, according to the town notice. Access will be limited to local residents and deliveries only while the work is underway.
The affected areas include Hampden Road between Tetrault Road and Route 190, and between Tetrault Road and the end of Hampden Road near Spencer, according to the notice. The town said the closures are required for safety and for the timely completion of the project.
The Town of Stafford said it and the contractor will work to maintain access for local residents, school buses, mail delivery and emergency services within reasonable limits throughout the project. Motorists should expect delays and temporary traffic pattern changes during operations.
Residents and drivers who do not need to travel through the area are being asked to consider another route during the work. According to the town, using an alternate route could help reduce congestion and improve safety for workers and residents.
