Vernon Police Dog Nabs Coke At Traffic Stop in Rockville

VERNON, CT — A traffic stop escalated into a narcotics arrest when Vernon police dog Franco discovered drugs in an erratic driver's car, an arrest report says.

At 6:02 p.m. on May 5, a Vernon PD officer pulled over a black 2018 Infiniti Q50 at Elm and West Main streets, after its driver, a 26-year-old Bloomfield man named Isaiah Halliday, committed several traffic violations, according to an arrest report.

VPD Canine Franco was called to the scene and alerted officers to the presence of narcotics and a total of 19.9 grams of cocaine were discovered in the car, along with packaging material and a scale, according to an arrest report.

Halliday was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, cocaine possession with the intent to sell, the use of drug paraphernalia, failure to display plates, making an improper turn and failure to drive in the proper lane, according to an arrest report.

He posted a $10,000 bond and is due in Rockville Superior Court on May 19, records show.
