Vernon's Lake Street School Gets A New Principal

A veteran of the Vernon school system has a new position.

VERNON, CT — On Monday, the Vernon Board of Education endorsed the appointment of Michael Savignano as the new Principal at Lake Street School.

The move is effective July 1.

He replaces Tracy Duenzl, who is retiring after 13 years as Principal at LSS.

Savignano was an assistant principal at Vernon Center Middle School for the past four years and, prior to that, he was the Instructional Coach at VCMS. He has taught in Vernon since August 2006 as a language arts teacher and department facilitator.

Savignano has extensive experience with English language arts curriculum development, master scheduling and course offerings, and positive school climate practices.

He received his Sixth Year Degree in Educational Leadership from the Central CT State University, his Master’s degree in Education and his Bachelor’s Degree in English, both from the University of Connecticut.
