VERNON, CT — Daytime paving work is set to begin on one of the busiest roads in Vernon.
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is scheduled to perform a milling and resurfacing project on West Street, which is also state Route 527.
The project is slated to run from June 30 through July 20, according to the DOT. The project will cover approximately 2.05 miles of West Street, from Route 30 (Hartford Turnpike) to Route 83 (Union Street).
That route is not only heavily used by local residents, but also by Tolland County residents heading to the Interstate 84 Exit 66 interchange.

Traffic Impacts
Said the DOT, "Please plan for possible delays, allow extra travel time, and use caution when traveling through the area. Work schedules may be adjusted due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances."
With schools out for the summer, traffic is lighter in the area, but it is still considered a heavily traveled road. Police are asking that motorists not block the entrance to the police station and ambulance building near the corner of West and Hartford Turnpike.
