5 Arrested As Shovels, Machetes Used In Vernon Street Brawl

VERNON, CT — Four people were arrested following a roadway fight in Vernon, police said.

According to an incident report, on Monday at 1:02 p.m., Vernon police responded to the area of 32 Vernon
Avenue for a report of multiple individuals fighting in the street. When they arrived at the scene, officers indeed located several people involved in the disturbance, some armed with weapons that included a machete and a shovel, according to an incident report.

Vernon EMS responded to evaluate those involved, and all parties refused medical treatment, police said.

According to police, the following were arrested:

• Trevor Galovich, 20, was charged with carrying a dangerous
  weapon, second-degree threatening, first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree breach of peace. Galovich was held on a $25,000 surety bond and was to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Tuesday.
  
• Michael Dejesus, 19, was charged with carrying a dangerous
  weapon, third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace. Dejesus was held on a $5,000 surety bond and was to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Tuesday.
• Ernesto Hernandez, 18, was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon, interfering with police, third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace. Hernandez was held on a $5,000 surety bond and was to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Tuesday.
• A juvenile was also arrested and charged with breach of peace in the second degree.
• The juvenile was released on a Juvenile Summons and was scheduled to appear in Hartford Juvenile Court on July 3.
