Woman Facing Felony Charge In Tolland County Food Stamp Fraud

VERNON, CT — A Vernon. woman is facing a first-degree larceny charge and stands accused of misreporting income to receive state food assistance, state police said.

The case involves the state's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

The woman, identified as 45-year-old Kimberly Malone, of Vernon, was served a warrant on June 23 that also charged her with making a false statement. She posted a $15,000 bond in the case and is expected in Rockville Superior Court on July 7, records show.

Malone is accused of not reporting additional income on a renewal form and subsequently receiving $2,982 in SNAP benefits for which she was not eligible from Feb. 1 through April 30 of this year, a warrant states.

She is accused in a warrant of knowingly signing off on the renewal form knowing the information on it was inaccurate.
