VERNON, CT — A suspected drunken driver somehow ended up in the woods behind a fire station in Vernon, a police report indicates.
Vernon police recently released a report in the July 12 incident.
According to an arrest report, at 3:35 a.m. that day, Vernon police came upon a 69-year-old Hebron man who had crashed his car into the trees behind the VFD station at 734 Hartford Turnpike. That's across the street from the police station.
He had apparently run an adjacent stop sign, according to an arrest report.
The man subsequently failed sobriety tests and was booked on a driving under the influence charge, according to an arrest report.
He was also charged with a lane violation and a stop sign violation, records show.
