VERNON, CT — Yes, the famed Rein's Deli case certainly has the meats.
The corned beef.
The pastrami.
Even the chopped liver for those considering that a meat.
But, in a light-hearted social media post this week, Vernon's landmark restaurant had this to say:
"So ... you thought Rein's Deli was just a deli meat and cheese sandwich kind of place?"
That was followed by a picture of that very idea on a sandwich and several responses to the tune of "yummy."
In addition to the veggie sandwich, there's a hummus vegetarian on the menu. The vegetarian chili and side dishes also count.
So does what is arguably the signature side — the half-sour pickles.
Said Rein's: "We've had these sandwiches for 54 years now. See what you've been missing ..."
Said one repeat customer from another state, " I absolutely love your veggie reuben. Anytime I'm in the area, I make it a point to visit and indulge."
