VERNON, CT — Vernon residents will see a change to their refuse and recycling collection schedule next week because of the Labor Day holiday.
The Vernon Public Works Department will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day. Refuse and recycling will not be collected that day and instead will be picked up Tuesday, Sept. 8, along with Tuesday's regularly scheduled collection.
Residents should leave their carts at the curb if delays occur, according to the Public Works Department.
The town also announced the remaining hazardous waste collection dates for Vernon residents.
Collections will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the following Saturdays at the Capitol Region East Hazardous Waste facility, adjacent to the Manchester Landfill at 321 Olcott St. in Manchester:
An additional hazardous waste collection will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Ellington Public Works Department, 21 Main St.
Residents should check the town's information on acceptable and prohibited materials before bringing items to a hazardous waste collection.
