Connecticut Labor Department Releases July 2026 Unemployment Numbers — See How Vernon Stacks Up

VERNON, CT — The Connecticut Department of Labor has released unemployment figures for July 2026 and Vernon performed better than the state average.

According to the Labor Department, Connecticut nonfarm payrolls continued to grow jobs in July 2026, adding 2,800 jobs.

Over the year, the state has now increased 13,800 non-farm positions (0.8 percent to another new all-time high point.

As of July, Connecticut's labor force totaled 1,909,300, according to the Labor Department. A total of 1,799,200 were employed and the unemployment roles stood at 110,100, according to the Labor Department. That's a rate of 5.8 percent, according to the Labor Department.
