VERNON, CT — Vernon Public Works is preparing to begin a series of road milling and paving projects on several neighborhood streets in the coming weeks.
The work is weather-dependent and also subject to contractor availability. The surface layer of each roadway will be milled from curb to curb before new pavement is installed.
Rafferty Fine Grading will perform the milling work, while Galasso Paving will handle paving.

Vernon Public Works said replacement of curbs, catch basin tops and driveway aprons will be completed at the department's discretion.
The department will place signs in neighborhoods to alert residents when work is nearing. On-street parking will not be permitted during construction periods.
Roads are expected to be closed to through traffic while work is underway. Local traffic will be permitted, although motorists should expect delays. Emergency vehicles will have access at all times.
Travel may be difficult during the milling process, and motorists traveling through work areas do so at their own risk.
