Absentee Ballot Applications Available for Nov. 3 Election in Vernon

VERNON, Conn. — Absentee ballot applications for the Nov. 3, 2026, election are now available from the Vernon Town Clerk, according to the town.

Applications are available from the Town Clerk's Office or online through the Connecticut Secretary of the State's Office.

The Town Clerk and secretary of the state are the only sources of absentee ballot applications. The Town Clerk's Office is responsible for issuing absentee ballots. Ballots will be available from the Town Clerk beginning Oct. 5.

The Vernon Registrars of Voters do not process absentee ballot applications or issue absentee ballots, the town said.

Connecticut law now allows registered voters to cast ballots by absentee ballot without providing a specific excuse. Previously, voters generally had to meet certain criteria, such as being unable to appear at the polls because of a physical disability, being out of state on Election Day or serving in the armed forces.

Voters who cannot vote on Election Day also can use early voting.

Early voting in Vernon will be available at the Registrar of Voters office, 375 Hartford Turnpike, on the following dates and times:

• Oct. 19-26: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Oct. 27: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Oct. 28: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Oct. 29: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Oct. 30 and 31: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Nov. 1: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Election Day voting will take place at voters' regular polling locations.

Residents who need an absentee ballot application can call the Vernon Town Clerk at 860-870-3662 and request that an application be mailed to them.

Applications also are available at the Town Clerk's Office on the first floor of Town Hall, 14 Park Place. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
