VERNON, CT — Sewer upgrades in the area of Route 31 near I-84 are complete and work will begin this weekend, weather permitting, to restore road surfaces.
Milling of Route 31 and its intersections with adjacent roads is scheduled for Friday and Saturday night (Oct. 9-10) and paving is scheduled for Sunday and Monday night (Oct. 11-12). Again, work is weather-dependent. If it rains, paving will be delayed. The work area is from Loehr Road to Route 30.
All work will be performed between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m., except for the milling of Sunrise Drive, which is scheduled for during the day this Friday.
The state Department of Transportation has contracted G.A. Wenzel Milling Co. for milling and Galasso Materials for paving. Vernon Public Works and state Department of Transportation employees will be at the work site.
Motorists traveling along Route 31, exiting I-84 at exit 67 and people on surrounding roadways should expect lane closures, delays and road closures during the work. Local traffic will be accommodated, although there may be delays. Emergency vehicles will always have access.
During milling, travel may be difficult and is at your own risk.
Questions can be directed to Vernon Public Works at 860-870-3500.
