Why are you seeking this office?

As a father and educator, I am seeking to continue representing Vernon because I want to provide the highest quality of education to all students in CT, regardless of where they live, including here in Vernon and Rockville. I also want to continue working to make CT more affordable and equitable for all working families in our state.

What do you believe is the No. 1 issue facing Connecticut, and how do you plan to address it?

Education funding is a major issue facing CT, as it is the largest portion of any town's budget. I believe that the state should be picking up more of the cost, which will provide towns with some relief, and lower the reliance on local property taxes to fund schools.

Energy costs have been soaring in Connecticut. What are your plans to help address this issue?

Holding energy companies accountable will help to keep energy prices in check. I have supported legislation that is aimed at holding utility companies accountable, such as preventing them from passing lobbying fees directly on to ratepayers. Also, providing opportunities for more alternative energy sources, such as solar energy, can help address the issue.

Affordability has been a major topic across the country and here in Connecticut. How do you plan to address this issue?

I will continue to support legislation that aims to lower housing costs, as well as that which provide subsidies for healthcare costs. I am also willing to look for ways we can provide tax relief where it is appropriate, such as increasing the state's share of education funding which will lower local property taxes.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I am proud to have served 2 terms in this role already, as well as my time as a member of the Vernon Board of Education. As a classroom teacher of over 2 decades, I also am adept at navigating complex issues and people of all different beliefs and backgrounds.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

It is my honor to serve the 56th District and the Vernon community. I am proud to work on behalf of all residents to meet the needs of our town and state.
