Obituary: Martin “Marty” F. Fagan, Jr.

Martin “Marty” F. Fagan, Jr., 57, of Vernon, loving husband of 32 years to Cynthia (Davidson) Fagan, passed away suddenly on Friday, March 23, 2012 at Hartford Hospital.

Born in Hartford, the son of Ellen (Spiller) Fagan of Kennebunk, Maine and the late Martin F. Fagan, he was a lifelong resident of Vernon. He was a graduate of Rockville High School, Class of 1972 and the University of Connecticut, Class of 1977. Marty earned his master’s degree from the University of Hartford. He was presently the Chief Financial Officer for Tell Tool, Inc. in Westfield, MA. Marty was a member of the First Congregational Church of Vernon and was a former member of the Rockville Library Board of Directors. He was Past President of the Vernon Youth Soccer Association and was the coach of the Vernon Predators Soccer Team. He enjoyed golfing, watching UConn football and basketball, Rails to Trails and Mardi Gras. Marty knew what was important in life and always helped everyone remember to enjoy the moment. Marty is survived by his beloved sons, Christopher M. Fagan of New York City and Kevin W. Fagan and his fiancée Jessica D. Landolfi of West Hartford; a sister, Susan Cressey and her husband George of Kennebunk, ME; a sister-in-law, Melissa Hood and her husband Chris; a brother-in-law, Scott Davidson and his wife Kristen; a special aunt Jean Perkins and her children David McCullough and his wife Becky and Carol Dickinson and her husband John and many other beloved aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and their spouses and children.

A memorial service to celebrate Marty’s life will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 11 AM at the First Congregational Church of Vernon, 695 Hartford Turnpike (Route 30), Vernon. His family will receive friends for memorial calling hours on Friday, March 30, 2012 from 4-7 PM at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Martin F. Fagan Memorial Scholarship, c/o Rockville High School, 70 Loveland Hill Road, Vernon, CT 06066.
