VERNON, CT — Vernon has been targeted by a national band for a new bank branch. In all, the Connecticut banking map is losing a pair of branches, but gaining two back in the latest announced shuffling of financial institutions.

JP Morgan Chase has embarked on a pair of moves to add branches in Vernon and East Hartford, respectively.

The bank has targeted a vacancy at the Tri-City Plaza in Vernon. It's at the Kelly Road end of the commercial plaza at the location deemed redundant following the M&T Bank takeover of People's United. It still has a drive-up window and Vernon Economic Development Sean Gately estimated what little work needs to be done can begin over the summer. Chase had been targeting the location for some time. The Vernon branch would fit nicely in between current branches in Manchester, South Windsor and Enfield.
