Bank Threat In Vernon Lands Man With Felony Charge

An angry customer at a Vernon bank branch is facing a felony charge, police said.

VERNON, CT — A man is facing a felony threatening charge after an incident inside a Vernon bank, police said.

Vernon police relased the details of the July 3 incident this week. That day, staffers at the Bank of America branch at 243 Hartford Turnpike told police that a customer had made threatening statements against both the building and employees.

The customer was later identified as John Carrington, 59, whose listed address is an apartment on River Street in Vernon, according to a report. Police tracked him down a short time later and took him into custody, according to a report.

Carrington was charged with first-degree threatening, a Class D felony in Connecticut. He was also charged with second-degree breach of peace, according to a report.

He was released on a $5,000 bond and has a scheduled court date of July 16, records show.

A report did not specify what might have triggered the threat. He was being "disorderly" at the bank, a report says.
