Bat Tirade Lands Man With Charges in Vernon
A Vernon man was booked on a plethora of charges after a bat-swinging, incident.

VERNON, CT — A Vernon man spent night in the lockup on a plethora of charges after a bat-swinging, incident in Union Street Thursday, police said.
Charges against Mark Sullivan, 53, who lives at 76 Union St., include:
- Second-degree assault
- Third-degree burglary
- Assault on a public safety officer
- Interfering
- Third-degree criminal mischief
- Second-degree breach of peace
- Carrying a dangerous weapon
He was held overnight on a $50,000 bond and was to appear in court on Friday.

The incident at 113 Union broke out at 9:57 p.m. A caller told police that someone, later identified as Sullivan, was hitting an apartment door with a bat, according to a report. The fracas began when Sullivan entered the apartment without permission, was pushed out, but managed to grab a bat before his forced exit and hit someone, according to a report.
He banged on the the apartment door a few times before heading eastbound on Union Street, police said.

He then attacked another person and tried to get into another apartment, according to a report.
Sullivan kicked an officer in the leg before being subdued, according to a report.
