Berserk Bus Ride in Vernon Lands Woman With Charges

A tirade on a transit bus in Vernon led to the arrest of a Wolcott woman.

VERNON, CT — A berserk bus ride along Route 83 in Vernon landed a Wolcott woman with charges, police said.

It was at 12:15 p.m. when dispatchers received a distress call from CT Transit. An intoxicated woman was "swinging at people" and and challenging other passenger to fights, according to a report.

The driver had stopped the bus on Route 83 near Dart Hill Road, according to a report.

When police boarded the bus, they found 31-year-old Jessica Brinton with an open container of alchohol and a "used" crack pipe and passengers said she was "engaging in fighting and tumultuous behavior," according to a report.

She also had four outstanding warrants for failing to appear in court in other cases, police said.

According to the state judicial system web site, a Jessica Brinton with the same birth year has four outstanding cases with charges ranging from assault to threatening to prostitution to violating a protective order.

For the bus ride, Brinton was charged with second-degree breach of peace, possession of alcohol in a public place and the use of drug paraphernalia. Including the FTA warrants, she was booked on $110,000 worth of bonds, according to a report.
