Bonds Jump From $7,500 to $850,000 In Vernon Larceny Cases

A man wanted in Vernon on 2 failure to appear warrants for 2 larceny charges was given 2 unusually high bonds on FTA warrants.

VERNON, CT — A man wanted in Vernon on two failure to appear warrants for a pair of larceny charges was given two unusually high bonds after being brought in by bail enforcement agents on Thursday, police said.

Leon Walters, 50, of Bloomfield was to appear in court Friday. He was originally arrested on Feb. 16 on both warrants and a re-arrest order was given on Oct. 26, records show.

One case involved a sixth-degree larceny charge and a first-offense probation violation, records show. The second set of charges included sixth-degree larceny and interfering, records show.

The bonds were $500,000 and $350,000, records show. He had previously posted $5,000 and $2,500 in bonds, respectively.

Walters was to appear in court Friday, police said.
