VERNON, CT — A early morning drunken scooter driver who was also on the phone is facing charges in Vernon, police said.

Police Friday released details of the May 7 incident.

At 2:15 a.m. that day a 5-year-old Vernon man was swerving over the double yellow lines in Windsor Avenue while riding a scooter, according to an arrest report.

Police also noticed that he was using a cell phone before turning onto Terrace Drive, according to an arrest report. Police said he was pulled over and failed field sobriety tests.

The man was charged with driving under the influence, operating as motpr vehicle while using a hand-held device, a lane violation and driving without a license.
