Adventures in Vernon Consignment and Thrift

OK, OK...I disappeared for a while. My sincere apologies. I have been a little busy falling in love:) So, I am sure you all forgive me!

For the past few weeks I have been really interested in the art of consigning, as well as the concept of thrift shopping. As a single Mom of two who was recently laid off, I know full well how important conserving money and sticking to a budget is. So, shouldn't shopping sales, shopping at thrift stores, and reselling your gently used items be a given? I ask this, and many times get a cringe of disgust. Read this, and change your mind!

Our first stop was Just Like New Consignment , located at 435 Hartford Turnpike in Vernon. This is a place where you can bring in your gently used items and receive a percentage of the selling price. I was very impressed to find that they have a lay-a-way department! I, of course, found lots of things I wanted.

Theere is a second store in Glastonbury as well.

Our second stop was at Thrifty Treasures Thrift Shop, located at 1285 Hartford Turnpike in Vernon. The owner, Merry Garrett, was so hospitable and informative. She and her husband run this shop which sells items from donations, moving sales, and auctions. And, anyone who knows me knows that I undoubtedly found things I wanted.

I learned a lot about how these types of businesses are run, but mostly loved meeting the women who make it happen, and making purchases, too!
