Choosing the PERFECT Prom Dress

How to choose the right prom dress for you, that is unique and will wow the crowd!

Prom is at the top of every girl’s list of most anticipated events when they enter high school.  And for seniors and juniors across the country, it’s almost time for the big occasion—and more importantly, shopping for your perfect dream dress, the dress that will wow the crowd on the night of the prom.

Searching for your attire can be the most entertaining and also the most frustrating experience you can have.  For me, getting a very unique and eye-catching dress is extremely important.  The most horrifying experience is that awkward encounter of bumping into another girl from your grade, looking at her transformation, and feeling your heart convulse as you realize…

She is wearing the exact same dress as you.

Ouch.

To avoid this, start searching early!  Dresses that awe everyone will not be easy to find!  Go towards finding the most exclusive dress shops (i.e. Vintage stores, small hole-in-the-wall shops, etc.) If you choose to go online, do not choose a well-known website.

If you notice girls you know shopping on the same website or even in the same store, this is your first red flag!

 Pack up and GET OUT!

If you’re looking for unique and something that’s never seen before, you definitely won’t find it there.

Online shopping is a great way to find a dress, and usually you can find them for much cheaper than the leading stores and websites.

But be careful!

Go to protected websites.

Take a click to Amazon.com or find a website that isn’t on the first page of the search list, you’d be surprised what you can find!  When searching, unless you know what you are looking for, do not limit your search and be very open to aspects you might not though you would have liked.  You’re dress should wow even you, if you look in the mirror and you don’t feel a charge of excitement in your stomach,

It probably isn’t the one.

I always encourage getting the dress at least a size bigger than what you would normally wear.  It’s safer for it to be slightly big and be able to get it altered, than for it to be too small and uncomfortable.

And remember…

This is supposed to be fun experience!  So enjoy it, don’t get frustrated if you don’t find the most flawless dress in the first couple days.  Take your time…

Nothing happens overnight!
