Dating 101

Ever wonder what you are doing wrong in dating? Well I have made every mistake around. Please learn from me.

Hello to everyone. My name is Kimberly and I am the executive director of TheSingleEvent.com. Like many people, I found myself divorced and without any sort of real friendships in my mid to late 30s.

What do you do when you have two small children and you have to move to a new area and your life is simplly rendered unrecongnizable in a matter of one day? Well, you pick yourself up and you brush yourself off and you enter into this new scary world of dating after divorce.

I have been known to be quite dating-impaired myself. However, I am pretty good at giving other people dating advise based on my own experiences over the last six years. I actually run a speed dating event every month in Manchester and I laugh when the ladies and gentlemen who attend call me later that week and ask me for dating advice. They dont always follow what I tell them, which usually leads to them not having a follow up date, but they are always grateful nonetheless.

Have you ever seen the movie "How to Lose a guy in 10 Days?" If not, that is going to be your homework. I can not say it any better than that. if you are a lady and you call the man too often or move your toiletries into his apartment the first week, he is going to bolt. And gentlemen, chilvelry is not dead. A lady will melt if she is treated like a lady. We dont want to wait five days to hear from you no matter what you think. And as for the whining, please don't do that. We want a man ... not another child.

I believe communication is key ... not that I am always the one to speak up when something perterbs me. I let a lot of things go...but when it comes to personal dating agendas, you need to be clear. If you are looking for a fling, then please don't portray yourself as a serious dater. And you all have to remember, as we get older, we know we have baggage and most people in their 30s and beyond will as well. its ok is someone has some baggage. It is not OK, however if the baggage is not resolved. If their ex still lives with them or wants them back, flee for the hills becasue that is not something you want to be involved with. Tell them politely that he or she can call you when they have resolved such issues.
