We'll get the factoids out of the way on this first post, then the fun stuff can begin!
- We have been Vernon's public library since 1896 and in our present building since 1904.
- We are what is known as an association library because we are not owned by the town.
- Since the library opened, our primary funding comes from an endowment from the Maxwell Family, our Annual Appeal, gifts and grants.
- Approximately 33% of our income comes from the Town of Vernon, an amount that represents 4/10th of a percent of the town budget.
- All of our services are free to patrons from Vernon and any town in Connecticut.
- Our website www.rockvillepubliclibrary.org has educational and fun resources for RPL cardholders to use from home as well as information about our services.
- All of our staff love to read and we really like to make suggestions on good things to read or watch!
