Thinking of Downsizing Your Home?

In today's economy, we are all trying to cut our costs.  I have clients who come to me, in hopes of finding a smaller home.  Not too small, because they do need and like their space. 

There are choices.  Many towns now offer over 55 communities.  This is convenient because they are communities that are set up, similar to condo communities.  You pay a monthly fee and the management company takes care of the outside maintenance for you.  (each community offers its own management and inclusions).  They offer one and two car garages, usually attached to the home.

Ranches are another option.  There are ranches within condo complexes and ranches that are single residential properties.  Both offer different options for you.  If you are a snowbird, you may want to consider the condo or over 55 communities.  You would not have to worry about maintenance of your grounds.  Some communities are small and others are quite large.  If you feel that you are just done with lawnwork, condos and over 55 communities, may be the choice for you.

Keep in mind that there are beautiful homes that have been updated and well maintained.  It may take you a bit longer to find one, but, our market changes everyday.  You can hire a company to maintain your lawn and shovel the snow in the winter months. That home may come along at any time.

Retirement is here, before you know it.  Tour some of these different types of homes, early.  When the time comes, your decision will be easier to make.
