VERNON, CT — A business with a familiar mission has not only decided to remain in Vernon, but it has expanded.

Town officials toured the Dart Hill Road facility of MCM Fundraising and Mayor Daniel Champaign issued a proclamation hailing the decision to stay in Vernon. The 20-year-old company had been searching for a location to expand and add freezer space, and, after examining their options, owners Janis and Steve Moser and Wally Carlson decided to remain in Vernon and construct an addition onto the existing office building, Champagne said.

The business helps schools, sports teams, churches and other organizations raise funds by selling Butter Braid Pastry, Lyman Orchards pies and Otis Spunkmeyer cookie dough.

The addition to MCM Fundraising's Dart Hill Road building included a large walk-in freezer, an interior truck loading bay and three exterior truck loading docks.

Previously, the company leased freezer space elsewhere.

"For the past several years we've been searching for the perfect freezer location to store our product,” Janis Moser said. "Our office location was on Dart Hill Road in Vernon and we finally asked the question, 'Why not here?' The more we thought about it, the better the idea became."

MCM Fundraising officials worked with Vernon Economic Development Director Shaun Gately.

"We're here to help our residents and our businesses grow and thrive," Gately said. "We make the process as user-friendly as possible, while ensuring regulatory requirements are satisfied."

MCM Fundraising began in the Moser's Ellington home. In 2002 , Carlson joined the business as a partner.

Eventually MCM Fundraising outgrew the Moser’s home and moved to office space in East Windsor. When more space was needed, MCM Fundraising moved to Dart Hill Road in Vernon.

"Consolidating operations in Vernon was a good move for the company," Steve Moser said. "We are so excited with the decision we made. Having all of our products and our office under one roof will make life exponentially easier as we look forward to our busy season this fall."

MCM Fundraising has 10 full-time employees and several part-time staffers. Check out its website here.
