Welcome back for our first meeting after our summer hiatus on Thursday, Sept. 3rd at noon in the first floor meeting room. A few reminders, the Lyons Club continues to collect eyeglasses and hearing aids to be put in their box as you enter the library in the back door, we continue to welcome donations for the " give and take" food pantry opposite the used books sale, and remember to look up our museum passes under "collections" on the library website, with most printable for use.   You don't have to be a member to come to our meetings, hope to see you on 9/3!!

The 90th Hartford County 4-H Fair returns to 56 Egypt Road in Somers, CT, August 14–16, celebrating 90 fairs of 4-H tradition and community.
Enjoy livestock and 4-H exhibits, food trucks, live music, robotics, kids’ activities, demonstrations, and more. On Saturday from 10:00 AM–2:00 PM, visitors can get up close with big vehicles at Touch-a-Truck, featuring utility vehicles, tractors, garbage trucks, and more. Barrel train and wagon rides, Doodlebug pulls, a horse draw, and the 90th Fair Celebration are also part of the weekend.
Fair hours are 8:00 AM–9:30 PM Friday and Saturday and 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Sunday. Admission is $7, seniors $4, and free for military with ID and children 3 and under. Parking is free.

Join us for the 15th Annual KIDSAFE CT Jerry Bundy Car Show on Saturday, August 15! 
Join us for an exciting day featuring amazing vehicles from all eras, delicious food from local businesses and fun activities for kids—all to support foster care services and ensure that children thrive.Every day, there are hundreds of youth in CT in need of a home. When you show up to this event, you’re also showing up for them and providing one more reason to hope. Whether you come to show or admire cars, support the cause or take the next step, your presence makes a difference.
WHEN: 8/15/26, 9am-2pm, rain or shine! (Gates open at 9am, judging ends at 12pm, parade and awards at 1pm)

--- Founded in 2011 under the leadership of Richard “Jerry” Bundy, this event unites hundreds of car enthusiasts and local families for a fun-filled day that helps ensure that children thrive. After Jerry’s passing in 2024, we are proud to continue this event in memory of the extraordinary support Jerry provided to KIDSAFE CT and the greater Vernon community.
Now one of the region’s premier annual car shows, the event showcases more than 300 vehicles from all eras, including new and classic cars, trucks, tractors and more. The event also features activities for kids, raffles, great food and refreshments from local vendors, and a special awards ceremony for each car class and category.

Bring the whole family — and your four-legged friends — to the Green this Sunday, August 16th from 10 AM–1 PM for one of our most fun summer markets!
We’ll be joined by Paw Safe Dog Rescue, so be sure to stop by, meet some adorable adoptable dogs, and learn more about supporting local rescue efforts. ❤️🐶
