Campus Achievements By Vernon College Students

VERNON, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

• Eastern Connecticut State University's English department held its annual English Honors Society Induction ceremony on Nov. 6. At the event Sigma Tau Delta inductees were recognized for their exceptional course work, intellectual abilities and character in the study of English.
  Among the inductees were three Vernon residents: Joyce Figueroa, who majors in Communication and English; Tegan Ruschmeier, who majors in Elementary Education and English; and Michelle Tedford, who majors in English. To qualify for Sigma Tau Delta, students must have at least a 3.5 GPA in their English Major, an overall GPA of 3.0, have completed a minimum of 4 courses in the English major at 200 level or above and be nominated by at least two faculty members for an invitation to join.

University of Saint Joseph, West Hartford CT

• Lindsey Montminy is a sophomore guard on the Saint Joseph women's basketball squad. In eight games through Dec. 3, she is averaging 24.4 minutes, 3.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. The Rockville High School graduate is majoring in Nursing.
