Car Dealership Working To Set Up Shop On Route 83 In Vernon

VERNON, CT — A parcel on Route 83 that has been vacant for three years ever since a used car dealership moved could soon be home to another dealership.

Last month, a sign emerged at 483 Talcottville Road proclaiming it to be the new home of F&Z Motors. A few vehicles are already on the lot.

Vernon Community and Economic Development Coordinator Shaun Gately said several issues are being worked out with the building, which had several code issues.

Nevertheless, F&Z Motors already has a website touting the location.

In April 2020, a used car dealership that has been in Vernon for the better part of a decade decided to move. The inventory suddenly disappeared and a sign was hung indicating the business was relocating to 119 Spencer St. in Manchester.

Another sign boasted that the business had a "10-year sales history" of more than 400 transactions per year at the Vernon location.

Gately said at the time the dealership owner moved the business because of a "lease situation," and zoning regulations that limited the amount of cars allowed on the lot.
