Car Flung Nearly Entire Block Tuesday In Vernon Crash
Two vehicles collided on Union Street in Vernon Tuesday evening.

VERNON, CT — A car was hit so hard during a Tuesday evening crash on Union Street in Vernon that it was flung nearly an entire block from the spot of the initial impact, police said.
The crash took place at 6:10 p.m., Vernon police said.
A compact car — a 2012 Hyundai Accent — was making a left turn out of the southern half of Ward Street onto Union Street, when it was "t-boned" by a 2013 BMW X5 sport utility vehicle heading west down the hill, police said.

The BMW hit the Hyundai so hard, it was flung almost to the Oak Street intersection, police said. The BWM bounced to the right, took out a speed limit sign and came to rest on the sidewalk, police said.
The driver of theHyundai, who has not yet been identified, was taken to an area hospital and was in serious condition Wednesday morning, police said.

The BMW driver was also taken to an area hospital, police said.
The investigation remained open Wednesday morning. A preliminary report indicated a "line of sight issue" may be a factor in the crash. Anyone with information on the crash can call Vernon Police at 860-872-9126.
