Car Hits Pole On Route 83 In Vernon, Section Of Road Closed

A section of Route 83 was closed in Vernon Friday morning aftrer a car hit a pole, police said.

VERNON, CT — A section of Route 83 was closed in Vernon Friday morning after a car hit a pole, police said.

The crash was reported at 7:40 a.m. between Dobson Road and Wilshire Road.

Power lines were on the vehicle and an occupant was trapped, police said.

Fire and Eversource Energy crews were called to the scene, police said.

One person was removed from a vehicle and brought to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

At about 9 a.m., Eversource had to cut power to about 1,500 homes for about 30 minutes for repairs.

Police opened one lane in each direction at 11:25 a.m. Police estimated the road would be entirely re-opened at noon.

Pole repair was expected to last into the evening hours.
